Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's
war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars"
defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make
the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an
application of science be successful? Is a militarized space
inevitable, necessary or impossible?

UN humanRights Seat - read - http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/politics/politics-rights-un-usa.html
- but wouldn't the USA also have been accused of violating human
rights
Cuba -Prisoners ... are they 'prisoners' ... or as
nobodies/nogo ... does this get around the 'rights' issue - they
have no rights therefore USA technically hasn't trashed them ?

I, for one, believe that the detainees are recieving more rights
and better treatments than those "alleged" collaboraters that were
summarily executed by your friends, the PLO.
Oh, excuse me they weren't "alleged" collaboraters. You can
measure their guilt by reading the trial transcripts, interviewing
the prosecuter and defense attorney and speaking to the jury. What
no judge jury or rule of law? I'm shocked.
Of course, murdering that 5 year old Israeli child is okay. Isn't
it lchic?
Say, have you burned any synagogues lately? Viva LaPen?

mazza,
Your main pont seems to be: "We are not worst then some others."
On this I think we may agree.
The question however is: "Can the World afford an allmighty
lonely superpower defending his behavier as not a worst one on the
planet"?
Don't you think what is permissible for the small puppy dog
should not be alowed for an Elefant? The consequences are just so
much more serious. And catastrofic for too many.

almarst , that's a point that you've made before, --- made
last year many times -- and you're right.
