Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's
war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars"
defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make
the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an
application of science be successful? Is a militarized space
inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Zusammenarbeit, Nabil Shaath, in Berlin. Fischer sagte, über die
Form einer Unterstützung wolle er nicht spekulieren. Berlin

THE TRUTH
From the Palestinian Violence video:
"Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are. Fight them,
wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them.
Wherever you are, kill the Jews, the Americans who are like them,
and those who stand by them.
They are all in one trench, against the Arabs and the Muslims.
They should be slaughtered. They should be murdered.
Such is the word of Allah."
- an Islamic mufti, broadcast on Pali TV
Note the absence of goodwill and compromise. Kinda like you.

Lots of things are changing fast. That means new dangers, but new
opportunities, too.
How many countries, these days, will follow the US lead blindly
about anything?
The list is getting smaller - - and that's progress for both the
world, and the US.
lchic is right that feedback, and right answers, are important.

If leaders in the US looked at what would need to be done to fit
US actions to human needs, and the basic facts of power -- we'd all
be safer. Because they are not doing so, the US is getting weaker.

Adolf Berle's Rule Three may be especially pertinent:
Rule Three: Power is invariably based on a
system of ideas of philosophy. Absent such a system or
philosophy, the institutions essential to power cease to be
reliable, power ceases to be effective, and the power holder is
eventually displaced.
The credibility of American positions, judged by standards
that most Americans hold as well, is being weakened by the actions
of the Bush administration at a rate that may be hard to match in
history.

Neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis are angels. Luckily,
you can find an enormous mass of inconsistencies on both sides. You
can collect references, and "show" that compromise is impossible.
I'm not sure that the people are as consistent (or stupid) as that.
A problem is that each side is often nearest the mark, talking
about the shortcomings of the other side.
