    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

kangdawei,

I am really flattered by your appreciation;) And please take a note - I even did not even start the "trepanation" of your "brain";)

Meanwile, something to chew about:

O'Connor Foresees Limits on Freedom - http://www.nytimes.com/2001/09/29/national/29SCOT.html

This could be the preliminary test of just how shallow this "mother of all democraties" really is.

Let's hope I am wrong on this one.

That what is called "The Just In Time Information";)

"Saddam has germ warfare arsenal, says defecting physicist" - http://www.portal.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/09/30/wiraq30.xml

"Military experts said Saddam's decision could have been linked to the attacks on New York's World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, which investigators believe were planned years in advance."

"The scientist formerly worked at the Atomic Energy Organisation in Baghdad, but defected because of his growing horror of the regime. "I created death in Iraq. I had to get out," he said. Details of Dr al Sabiri's defection cannot be revealed because of fears for his safety."

"I was asked to examine hundreds of complicated and dangerous toxins," he said. "They were very easy to use to create germs. You could put them in water or steam, throw them in the air or use them in the soil. We developed nerve gas, botulism and anthrax."

That what I would call a good scintific education. An Atomic scientist working on a chemical and biological warfare programs.

Either that or an amaizing degree of falsification and ignorance by the paper...

Please mark your selection;)

One may wonder "What this nation would become, changing places with say Iraq or Serbia?"

"...in a poll of 1,000 people that 70 percent said they were depressed, 50 percent said they could not focus on their jobs and 33 percent said they were having trouble sleeping."

The cure? "Doctors" from Defense Dep. prescribed a massive blood-letting of some foreign origin fully covered on a nightly TV "News" for at least 90 days. Restrictions: No US casuaslties. No "colateral damage shown. And no "unfriendly" question asked, please;)

It goes without saying that I disagree with everything almarst posts.

This is not the thread to go into the details on this subject, but I'm certainly going to mention it:

There is a world of difference between "circumscribing the behavior of Iraq" and "circumscribing the behavior of the USA" in the world.

Just as I am certain that the coterie of NYT leftists who grace these pages are absolutely incapable of seeing that difference, I am confident that the vast majority of American voters will see the difference, understand the difference, and vote the difference in every election from now on in the USA.

You are "watering the wind" with your boundless wit.

In the meantime, Americans will work together to make America safe.

"Americans will work together to make America safe."

I really hope so. And remember: When God wants to punish someone, he takes away his mind.

You, Falwell and others, trying to use god to justify your pathetic collections of "arguments".

I do not know your god. I'm pretty sure nobody else does either.

kangdawei 9/30/01 5:38am . . . youre associated with gisterme (the great lady herself? -- or working for her) - - and if you want to get a really good sense of why it is that there are people, all over the world, concerned with U.S. behavior, read what gisterme has written. Since the beginning. I hope people do, and staffed organizations especially do.

There is a lot of good in the United States, but there is a great deal, some revered by organizations like CSIS, that bears careful re-examination.

It is Sunday. Since issues of judgement, humanity and practicality are involved with this thread that include, but go well beyond, religious concerns, it seems to me a good time, for some people at least (maybe especially people around gisterme , to listen to a very good sermon. The sermon is well worth listening to, even if you arent religious at all, but are simply a human being.

It makes points about judgement , and staying awake that are good points.

kangdawei 9/29/01 11:59pm seems very sure of how voters will respond. For myself, I believe that

Americans need to be WORTHY of the GOOD THINGS people associate with this flag - - not just wave it. . . . Our allies, and people all over the world, should be able to expect that. And able to check that.

I think a great many voters believe that, too.

When an administraion has gone so far to the wild, irrational right that it thinks of The New York Times as "a bunch of lefties" there is reason for some correction.
