Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

The man in the street, the woman in the street, the child in the
street, - Voters ... they have an understanding regarding the
implications of GERM warfare. When the BwshAdmin critters came
through Aussie a few weeks ago, the Government here would NOT
entertain anything the Americans wanted to impose re GERM warfare -
because the public have negative perception.
Missile on the other hand are just as negative. Yet somehow the
public-s of the world have been conned into believing there's virtue
here.

" When the Soviet Union fell, and everyone, on all
sides, had so much hope, we didn't have an end game -- and the
United States was so tied up with lies, that it could not sort out
problems before it -- or help the Russians sort out their
problems."
We should work to fix things now -- not go on making them worse.

extensively on this thread, could not have done so, without the
knowledge and backing of the very highest levels of the Bush
administration, including Rice , Rumsfeld , Armitage , Wolfowitz ,
Hadley , and their bosses.

By facing some facts gracefully -- facts that are coming out
anyway, and making reasonable accomodations, in the interests of the
whole world, including nearly all American citizens, we could have a
much safer, more reasonable world.
Why doesn't it happen? The number of possibilities is getting
narrowed down.

Symmetry underlines many of the ways we think
about both art and science. Of the four dimensions which we
normally use to define the world we live in, that is, up and down,
in and out, left and right, and time, only time is inherently
asymmetrical, moving relentlessly forward, never back. Thus if we
know the spatial properties of one half of an object we can infer,
in science, or anticipate, in art, what the other half may be
like, even if it’s unseen or inaccessible
... like a missile perhaps?

Last March, President Vladimir Putin appointed
Sergei Ivanov as Russia's new defense minister. It was believed
that Putin had chosen his right-hand man, who as Security Council
Secretary had devised the reform plan, to speed up reorganization
of the Defense Ministry. Today it's pretty clear that most of
these assumptions were not entirely correct. It transpired that
Russian officials were deliberately lying about the strength of
their armed forces. http://www.themoscowtimes.com/stories/2001/08/30/009.html
