Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

That would make me reluctant, too.
There are huge problems with respect to human rights, and a lot
of other things, in N. Korea. That country's managed to do very
badly by its own people, and in its relations (such as they are)
with the rest of the world.
Getting it "opened up" in a lot of ways would be a good thing,
especially for the N. Koreans themselves, and for the rest of the
world.

Seems the problem is a problem is a problem. The guys figured they'd
think about it for a decade, then try things .... and if these
things weren't working by around 2025 - the world wouldn't be the
one we know. Long lead in thinking time!

NK debt was $12 billion in 1995. Seems they need to find other
ways of working this off - rather than placing people in slave
camps. Their population is slightly higher than the Australian, so a
working population of 10 million great minds - set free - should
quickly be capable of knocking down debt.

Showalter, what do you think KYM (NK) would be discussing over in
Moscow/St_Petersburg? Wonder if Disney have gone into St_P - to
create the St_P Disney village Canal Estate.
