Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

It is in the interest of many other countries, including all the
other nations of NATO, and Japan, and Russia, to ask, specifically,
and through many channels, for those changes.

Comments from 100 postings back still make sense to me. There are
important things for Russia to do, and for America to do. Each side
should help the other make necessary changes, it seems to me. For
mutual benefit, and in the cause of a peace that needs to be found,
and cannot be found by military gimmicks. MD6345 rshowalter

I've had a stressy couple of days.
I'm signing off for tonight.

"The four charges are: deportation; murder; violation of the
rules and customs of war; and persecution on political, religious
and racial grounds. Is this the Milosevic trial or are we studying
US history? It gets so confusing sometimes.
Now we see that the indictment has been amended to delete any
mention of NATO bombing! The majority of "evidence" is after NATO
started bombing and they don't want to draw any attention to that!
If this wasn't so tragic it would be hilarious"

Soul Brother - http://www.nytimes.com/2001/06/29/opinion/29FRIE.html
"Mr. Clinton was able to get the first round of NATO expansion
through only by promising the U.S. public and the Pentagon four
things: It wouldn't cost anything, the U.S. would never actually
have to deploy troops to defend these new NATO members from Russia,
our European allies would all go for it, and the Russians could be
bought off. Indeed, Mr. Yeltsin was paid well for his
wink."
An interesting comment, indeed. Its being an "open secret" the
Yeltsin was bribed and then blackmailed up to the "after-bombing" of
Serbia shock which kicked him out from Kremlin.

'THE TRIAL' – as co-authored by Carla Del Ponte, Ramsey Clark,
and Franz Kafka - http://www.antiwar.com/justin/justincol.html
After a decade of moves and countermoves, wars and rumors of
wars, slaughter and destruction, it seems all the cards are finally
on the table this week. As Macedonia is in the process of being
sacrificed to the Empire’s crazed attack dogs, and Serbia is being
forced to sell out the elementary principles of law for less than
the customary thirty pieces of silver, the forces behind both
campaigns of destruction must feel a power rush of epic proportions.
They no longer seem to need the smokescreen of rhetoric and
platitudes to obscure their sinister scheming. As temperatures rise,
so does their arrogance, approaching again the preposterous levels
of Rambouillet and the beginning of NATO’s aggression in the spring
of 1999. - http://www.antiwar.com/malic/m-col.html
The current Condition Delta global alert against terrorist
threats called by the United States government last Friday because
of allegedly credible threats from "Saudi millionaire" (as he’s
always described) Osama Bin Laden’s organization could give us
preliminary answers to an unsettling question. Is the U.S.
government or the militant Taliban regime in Afghanistan closer to
being a truth teller? - http://www.antiwar.com/bock/bockcol.html
