Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

That might make the Swedes better negotiating mediators,
-- not too sympathetic to the USA -- might be better for bridging
differences.
Start badmouthing the USA, get the interest of the leader - - and
maybe get something now locked down moving.

On Iran ... most Iranians one meets seem very reasonable sensible
types .... not too keen on the psudo-religious-tyrants of repression
who hold them to ransome within their own country. Regular people
want to relax restrictive laws and move to C21 normality.

America can be very, very beautiful in many ways, but when its
military policy or foriegn policy looks too much like Hitler's, that
is ugly. We should fix it. Even assuming that was impossible during
the Cold War, the Cold War is over, and we should fix it now.
If we did, and convinced Putin of that, then Missile Defense
would be a minor issue, rather easily accomodated.

Iranians don't look like suicide nuclear missile launchers to me.
Not like us, but not nearly unbalanced enough for that.
I don't see any other nation that unbalanced, either.

The Indian spokesperson on tv last night had the thought that
'were the money currently spent on MD put to a public good
usage .. the world would be a better place'

we may not really need may not work, either.

Or not. The more I look at what she's written and compare that to
what the Russians are saying and doing the more I doubt that almarst
represents their mainstream thinking.
I haven't quite been ignoring almarst, Robert. Are you ignoring
this earlier post?
