Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

If you search almarst and earlier, almarstel_20001
, you'll see that these issues concern him, too.
These issues are important to consider if we are to make peace.
And issues of motivation and motivation for whom
need to be considered.
We ought not to forget the NAZI ties that the CIA has, and that
Kissinger was much involved with.
( Much of Kissinger's writing reads very much
like the writing of the fictinal figure the war criminal
general Armel von Roon in Herman Wouk's WAR AND
REMEMBERANCE . The tradition of geopolitics is a german
academic tradition that Hitler and the Nazis appreciated very
much, and taught to justify much of what they did.)
When one looks at the history of the nuclear terror, we ought to
carefully consider what the US has done, and how tiny, and
uncontrolled, the group of people dominating US nuclear policy and
"geopolitics" has been.

If one searches this thread, under "NAZI" , one may find that I'm
biased, or not. A reader can choose. But I'm not saying I'm certain
of things that I'm only concerned about -- and there are connections
that are clear -- and conspicuously uncontested, in my view.
Indeed, in terms of some actions on this thread, perhaps
collaborated.
It seems to me that every nation state that deals with the United
States ought to take the trouble to find out about these issues --
so that real peace -- a real, workable, stable secular redemption
for all concerned, can be possible.

One can also find interesting things, and not only on this
thread, searching "Carlyle" .

The larger context that mostly concerns almarst , as I
read him, involves big issues like the militarization of space --
something Russia stands opposed to, and that I oppose personally,
too. . . . . Fix these big, passionately felt misunderstandings, and
valid concerns, and cooperation in reducing nuclear threats from
smaller nations and groups would be a foregone conclusion between
Russia and the US, in my opinion.
Friedman's take on Kissinger's recent book:
