Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

"''It's like a bullet hitting a bullet. Is it possible today or
not? Today experts say that it is impossible to achieve this,''
Putin said"
Can you provide a link to the source, please?
Here you go. It's on all the wires. Might not be the exact same
one.

The point being that on one hand, when convenient, he claims that
it is impossible, then contradicts himself. Just like those on this
forum.
He, however is logical, he is just looking for the payoff. Fine
with me. I hope he gets it.

Analysis: Russia's Putin Hints at Missile Compromise
By Jon Boyle
MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin has dropped new hints
that Russia could consider changes to a landmark arms control accord
to help bridge deep differences with Washington over its plans for a
missile defense shield.
In a lengthy interview late Monday with U.S. journalists on his
debut summit with President Bush, Putin said a new trust was
emerging between Russia and the United States which made cooperation
on key arms control issues possible.
``Our partners in the United States have said and are saying now
that we should think about the threats that face us all,'' he told
reporters in the Kremlin library.
``People in our country have different views and opinions on this
idea, but I personally share it.''
Like a breath of fresh air, is Mr Putin.
A decent man, and trustworthy friend of the United States.

On home ground the activities of the 5thEstate have included
using hard earned taxpayer dollars to employ goons to bully and
force their opinions on others.
The 1950's hollywood hearings were a traumatic example of it
terrorising citizens via Joseph McCarthy.
The violent removal of President Kennedy could be viewed as an
act of an unelected arbitrator.
A case in point, on this board, where a poster is seen to
continually subsume professional ethics, to the point where the only
rational explanation has to be that the poster is either a puppet
for the fifth estate or an escapee from the pages a 'V' rated boys
comic.

Putin also said in a joking manner that Bush put up with his
efforts to speak English, a language he is learning. ``I
attempted to say a few words to President Bush in English,'' he
said. ``He was extremely nice about it. He pretended to
understand what I was talking about.''
Interesting how Bwsh stooped to pretending to understand ...
he certainly doesn't understand the report submitted to him by the
USA science academy. Putin should watch the USA Comedy "Here's
Bush" ... for insights ... actually the actor is a step ahead of
Bwsh being, bright, entertaining, + can dance and sing!

Joseph McCarthy was a sleazy bully. He ruined the careers of
hundreds of innocent men and women to advance his own. Yet for all
of the suffering he directly caused, not to mention the pervasive
fear in liberal circles of being unfairly associated with Communism
which he indirectly gave birth to, throughout his entire senatorial
career, he never once was able to directly convict a single
suspected Communist of a crime. ....He went from everyday senator,
to national prominence, to humiliation, and to death, all in seven
years.
McCarthy played on people's fears. "The Fight For America" was
nothing more than a cleverly thought-out plan that took advantage of
America's hysteria about Communism during the Cold War. http://mccarthy.cjb.net/

Martyr for the human rights cause - Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo
Romero y Galdámez, Archbishop of San Salvador. He was assassinated
while celebrating mass on 24 March 1980 in the chapel of the Divine
Providence Hospital, San Salvador. He had become an outspoken critic
of human rights violations and a leading human rights defender.
In March 1980 he wrote to the then President of the United States
of America (USA), Jimmy Carter, asking the USA not to provide
military assistance to El Salvador which might be used to perpetrate
human rights violations. He was killed shortly afterwards.

The ARROGANCE of USA policies internationally with respect
to many of their activities indicate a failure by the American
people to actively participate in the Shaping of their
policies.
Are the USA people apathetic ? Has people power ever affected
foreign policy? (body bags apart) wondering about 'OTHER' than
own group empathy.
