Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

Bush and Putin Arrive With Hopes of Forging Closer Ties by
REUTERS http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/world/world/bush-russia.html
" BRDO PRI KRANJU, Slovenia, June 16 - U.S.
President George W. Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin
arrived in Slovenia on Saturday for their first meeting and talks
. . . .
A time for care and concern - and good judgement (a word
eloquently used, as the last word in the sermon referenced in MD5247

Judgement requires care, a concern for what matters, and
distrust of what could be dangerous if wrongly accepted.

issues concerning our great nations together -- perhaps including
the issues set out in a posting gisterme also recommended in

GI referred to Bwsh above as a fox ... a fox would want a treed
landscape .. to hide in. Foxes are quite difficult to track down. A
lone fox jumped off a cargo ship onto Tasmania a couple of years ago
.. the depleted coup fingerprints its progresss .. but hard to hunt
down. As GI implied - very crafty.
Hitler - was he crafty or just MAD. Has it been determined if
Bwsh is crafty or quite MAD? He's a puppet for his father's
'conflict of interest' policies.
Supposing Bwsh were MAD ... as Amerians say 'a loony-tune' ...
then how far backwards will he be permitted to drag the USA before
the 'Stop-no more thanks!' sign is shown him?
------
Don't Europeans find it something of an insult to have an
American President breezing over to tell them how to run Europe, to
extend the EU by taking in a dozen more nations, and to tell Russia
how to behave. Interesting that the Irish Navvy nation that built
America hold referendums that work against Bushes wishes.
-----
Interesting to note how Putin cosied up to China this week, and
in turn, how the Chines cut the spy plane into neat pieces to fit in
the Russian Plane (travelling in via Japan). Does Bwsh reward Putin
for kindly assisting in the return of that plane ... one wonders ..
and if so, how so.
----
There was an interesting pictorial news note on Putin showing how
he was restoring National Pride to Russia, rebuilding the youth
movement, and was actively involved in getting Russia back on track.
A critism raised re 'the press', chetnya - and the lack of
professionalism in the Russian Army. Oh to be a fly on the wall at
their weekend meeting!

One major objective of mine on this thread has been to show how
the web may be used for communication between staffed
organizations.
Sometimes a great deal of coverage is needed to adequately treat
things as they are. The New York Times very often provides
very good coverage for this purpose - - and this thread has used
that extensive coverage as one source of grounding for argument.
Sometimes complexity must be dealt with.
Sometimes, that takes staffs.
No individual could "master" all the text and links on this
thread, and crosscheck matters related to them. Staffs can.
The end of the world could easily occur if these matters are
botched -- and much about them has been botched in the past. Staff
work, and careful attention of populations and leaders, should be
justified here.
