    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

These situations are complex enough that anyone who "has it all figured out" on the basis of some model -- doctrinaire "communism" or "capitalism" for instance, is essentially certain to get things wrong.

I think the US military has set up a lot of people to undertake missions that are dishonorable. It happened often enough in the Vietnam War. And it happens with respect to nearly everything close to nuclear weapons.

Seems the guy expected the 'enemy' to somehow equate with the US army, and when it didn't he had conflict.

How many countries in turmoil, would have an army that did equate to that of 'The Superpower' ?

A point re the Brit Army in the 82 South Atlantic was that the Brits had to take the boots off the dead Argentinians ... their not being equipt for snow ...

Which shows that there are a thousand things to think about when sending guys into a conflict zone to ensure their survivability.

And the Bush team is not composed of supermen.

But they do seem to wholeheartedly, proudly support a tradition of brutality. Perhaps I'm being unfair here?

Gisterme asked:

" Okay, Robert, I'll bite. What are the lies, the missteps and who is the very small extraconstitutional group?"

I answered in detail.
