    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

Now here's a quandry:

Why is it that most democrats are skeptical about the implementation of this NMD and most Jews are democrats and I assume, also major supporters of Israel and Israel, if anyone would readily benefit from effective MD technology it would be them and yet: most democrats are skeptical of an NMD.

Something smells fishy in Xanadu.

Do they perchance smell a rat hidden in a trojan horse?

Mr Bush, In Evil you trust. Josué Alonzo Alonzo De Nicaragua,país a quien el Sr Reagan convirtio en un eterno liciado de Guerra con sus armas y su Satanica ambición de Poder. josuealonzo@hotmail.com

Who can disagree with that Robert? It's just that different folks see different means to that end.

I was being a bit facetious when I said "so we can check 'em". Even if I had the sort of connections that you've incorrectly assumed I wouldn't use them in the way you've suggested. The "we" came from my habit of using only the third person in business correspondence. Sorry for any confusion that might have caused. That probably applies to your apparent confusion from my earlier post as well.

Posting technical information of any type on this forum would probably bore most to tears. I'll look at any you post, but like you, I really wouldn't have any way to say how that compares to existing BMD technology. But even if someone who knows looked at some technical data you posted, and by some miracle could be free to say "Robert, this stuff is what we were dong twenty years ago, what we have now is several orders of magnitude better." Would you belive them?

Finally, Robert, even if this BMD were built and worked perfectly, you would not owe me any sort of apology. I take no offense at your expressing your point of view. If the outcome is one way, you can re-evaluate your tendency toward technical pessimism, otherwise I'll re-evaluate my tendency toward technical optimism. In the mean time, let's hope something good will happen to cause the whole BMD plan to become unnecessary. It wouldn't be the first time.

As far as I can tell, we'll just have to wait and see.

They might artemis, though it seems strange that they haven't noticed any unusual odors in the past eight years. Now that the BIG stink is gone, they might just be smelling each other due to the improved signal-to-noise ratio. :-)

Helloo out there. I thought the Pres Bush was going to save money? Not give money away to the Industrial Military Complex! Oh, Ike where are you now.

Terrorists can carry bombs in suitcases; toxic gas in thermo bottles. Gee, I hope I didn't give away any military secrets.

While I am certainly in favor of anything that increases the security of the United States I fail to see how current technology can provide such a security. At best we can hope to prevent only a percentage of missiles, and as violet55b0 pointed out there are many other ways to compromise the security of the United States aside from ICBM's. I think it would be best to wait until we had a proven technology before we start abandoning treaties that have prevented the outbreak of another World War for over 50 years.

Huh, never thought of that. Good point.

Hey - according to Rumsfeld, the Russians will sell anything to anybody and we all know the Russians have developed 50 different biological agents at least as deadly as a nuke because the CIA had them convinced we'd done the same, so.......

Either Rumsfeld is lying or Rumsfeld is lying. Take your pick.
