Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

Cambodia: the photographer who took the pictures of the thousands
put to death was speaking on radio yesterday. He was sent as a child
to China, later returning with photographic skills then posted to
take photographs of those to be killed. A terrible abuse of a
population using fear, torture, and killing of innocents.
A reminder that people in power MUST be brought into line by a
national population and not given free reign .. absolute power
corrupts ... absolutely.
Radio is a wonderful medium.

"""We must move beyond the constraints of the 30-year-old ABM
treaty," the president said. Returns to Bush family coffers
weren't fairing sufficiently well under the '72 treaty ?

Were Eurasia to bond as a response to the BwshCrazyStarWar
concept, the world balance of power would shift away from
Washington. The USA's world superpower dominance would be eroded.
Chances are Bwsh is re-designing the world to the point where ye
olde USA will be largely written off as a Whacko!

I agree with Bush. The US needs to be prepared to defend itself
and its allies against nuclear attack. The ABM treaty is outdated. A
new agreement must be made.

"Look, your worship,'' said Sancho. "What we see there are not
giants but windmills, and what seem to be their arms are the vanes
that turned by the wind make the millstone go."
"It is easy to see," replied Don Quixote, "that you are not used
to this business of adventures. Those are giants, and if you are
afraid, away with you out of here and betake yourself to prayer,
while I engage them in fierce and unequal combat."
So saying, he gave the spur to his steed Rocinante, heedless of
the cries his squire Sancho sent after him, warning him that most
certainly they were windmills and not giants he was going to attack.
He, however, was so positive they were giants that he neither heard
the cries of Sancho, nor perceived, near as he was, what they were.
"Fly not, cowards and vile beings," he shouted, "for a single
knight attacks you."
A slight breeze at this moment sprang up, and the great vanes
began to move.

And so the US goes on record in establishing its leadership role
in the world. Perhaps this what Bush Senior had in mind when he
called for a "New World Order"

More money for the defense industry and business in general. What
a waste! President Eisenhower was correct in his warning to America
over 40 years ago:"Beware of the military-industrial establishment!"
And this from a former general & Republican president. Dubya is
playing to business interests with taxpayer money for a defense
system("star wars") we don't need.
