Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

I'm concerned about the survival of the world, for technical
reasons that go well beyond those discussed in the following sermon.
I think that the risks are much larger than other people seem to.
But terrifyingly large risks have been known, yet repressed from
consciousness, for many years.
People of literary interest might find this sermon moving - as I
do, and an aid to imagining, in human terms, the obligations and
challenges we now face.
WHEN THE
FOUNDATIONS ARE SHAKING ..... by Dr James Slatton . . . . River Road
Church (Baptist) in Richmond, Va ......available in RealMedia,
Quicktime, and Windows Media7 formats
People of secular inclinations might want to skip the first 9:27
of the sermon . Thereafter, it tells the story of a Russian colonel,
in the USSR's nuclear forces, who kept is head, and by doing so,
kept nuclear war from destroying us all. rshowalter

On March 1st, Dawn Riley and I did a series of poems involving
ourselves, but also involving nuclear weapons. (#1339-1352) THERES
ALWAYS POETRY -- Guardian_TALK
These poems -- though they are in poetic form - are dead serious.

Interesting that 'Ike' (is that the name) was not voted as
'popular'.
Isn't there another 'General' standing in the wings currently ...
. close to your 'baseball captain - President' ... separated by an
irratic VP heartbeat.
Has CP the makings of a President .. I wonder?

I think Colin Powell could be a great President.
