Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

GU | UK nuclear evidence a fake
UK: British intelligence claims that Saddam Hussein has
been trying to import uranium for a nuclear bomb are
unfounded, according to UN nuclear inspectors in Iraq.

"Close scrutiny and cross-checking of the documents, the
letterheads on them, the signatures on them, led us to
conclude with quite absolute certainty that the documents were
false," an IAEA official said.
"They were fabricated," said another IAEA official.
The fabrication was transparently obvious and quickly
established, the sources added, suggesting that British
intelligence was either easily hoodwinked or a knowing party
to the deceit.

"...The United States is being criticized by people all
over the world for being forceful - but the questions "what
would Saddam do to us if he could?" and "what would the Arabs
do to us if they could?" are very good questions..."
Not to criticize, Robert; but the second question, in my
view, casts to wide a net. It's true that Saddam is an Arab;
but all Arabs do not support him nor do they hate the US and
UK.
I don't think Arabs have any particular dislike for us just
because they're Arabs. The truth of that statement is
evidenced by the fact that nearly all coalition forward bases
are in freindly Arab states. Those Arab states wouldn't allow
that unless thir dislike for Saddam and what he stands were
much greater than any dislike they may have for us.

"The "golden rule"? Are you serious? How many people US
military killed, nations destroyed, dictatorships established
and supported since WWII? How many Americans where harmed by
those nations? Do we live on the same planet?"
Robert and I do, almarst.
In case you hadn't noticed, the Cold War was a titanic
battle between Soviet Imperialism and a Western policy of
containment. Regrettably, as in any war, some innocents were
caught in the middle. However, now that it's over, the world
is a better place.
You're quite consistant in your failure to mention that all
those cases of the Westen alliance supporting "dictators"
occured within the context of prevention of Soviet sponsored
"revolutions" which would have established communist
dictatorships in those same places, similar to the one that
still extists in Cuba.
The Soveits were successful in Cuba and Cuba still suffers.
Where are all those Western-sponsored dictatorships now that
Soviet imperialism is no longer a threat? Would you care to
make a list? Of course not. Most have disappeared because the
conditions that made them temporarily necessary no longer
exist.
As a matter of fact, wouldn't you agree that the nations of
Eastern Europe are much better of now that the communist
dictatorships installed by Stalin have been disestablished? If
you can't agree with that I'd have to ask, "What planet
are you from almarst?"
