Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

If the liberation of Iraq can be accomplished with only the
threat of war, not war - that will be wonderful. There's still
hope of that - and the Bush administration is plainly doing
some careful negotiating.
It is worth noting that the people of Iraq and the people
of France are different people - and Saddam is not - from the
Iraqi point of view - a foreign invader.
