Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

gisterme Thanks for the Robert redux. Periodically I'm
curious but as you point out he continues his obtuse ways.
It's usually the show offs who spout technical jargon to
"impress" the "ignorant masses", except that the true
intellects will know them for what they are.
I'll bet lchic blows a gasket when she reads this post!
It appears that the Missile Defense operations date is
being moved up to '04. Get those lasers hummin'. Zap, they're
(missiles) dead!!
