    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

If people used some of the things demonstrated here - a lot of problems now considered insoluble could be handled by ordinary people. We could find ways to make the world more orderly , more symmetrical, and more harmonious in terms of patterns people could explain.

A lot would sort out - according to the ordinary, standard patterns by which human beings usually manage to live decent lives.

If the statements made by gisterme were subjected to such contextualization - and checked for how orderly, symmetrical, and harmonious they are - the world would be a better place. Gisterme may not be GWB - though "connecting the dots" I continue to think it likely that he is. But gisterme's langauge is, much too often, the language of a bully, who expects to be obeyed "just because I said so" - with little regard for balance or truth - and an entirely excessive regard for his (her) own judgement - a higher regard for his (her) judgement than anybody is entitled to. I know gisterme often tries to do better than that. He (and GWB) should try more often, in my opinion.

If leaders of nation states, concerned with US conduct and the risks of unnecessary agony and death - actually asked that things on this thread be checked - - with enough resources so that the checking could be meaningful - I believe that a lot of "low status" and "obvious" but vital things could be sorted out - and the world, including the United States - would be a better place.

~~~~ It got understood and exposed ~~~~
The UN was denied funding by the USA --- who wanted 'control' over female sexuality worldwide -- denying the poor and starving for years.
The Islamic States deny and repress women via control over their sexuality - female circumcision / marriage by an other's choice / denial of right to meet 'regular' people of the world and to consider them as marriage partners.
~~~~~~~~

Interestingly at the present time the USA is complaining about the Leaders of Iraq (Iran) and North Korea wrt misuse of power ....

.... and climbing into the whacko heads of such leaders with their repressed views on their people there is a problem that folks acknowledge

.... yet beyond all that the question asked worldwide is this

    Why does the USA 'have' all those weapons and missiles .... yet sees them as a 'danger' when held by others ??

Just noticed your post above RS

Raises the question - is denial of women their rights ... my post above ... a matter that has many many elements of bullying ...

Of bullying -- isn't it true that those bullied are traumatised and thereby LESS PRODUCTIVE.

Why would those exercising power badly want to lower production ---- why such bad judgement? |>

Cooper and I have some disagreements - and here is one where I respect his position - which is a standard one - but think my position in useful, too. Cooper seems to value ideas because they are high in status - I think, with Edison, that the most important things are the "things common to human beings" the points of shared space - and I have no apologies for what I've done on this board.

Huh?

The only thing I am aware of disagreeing with you about is your nutty belief that I'm George Johnson. Of course I also think you're a complete fruitcake for thinking that President Bush is gisterme . For one reason, the poster, gisterme , is way too articulate to be Bush. No Bushisms. But, mainly, my friend, it's because the idea that the president of the U.S. would have the time or inclination to be posting on the NYT forums is completely, utterly, unreservedly, blindingly astoundingly wildly BONKERS.

That's about as simply as I can put it.

BTW, you haven't written me yet, Bob. Simple. Just email me and we'll set up a meeting. In case you've lost my email address, it's

wcooper@21stcentury.net

Write me. If you and your wife promise to keep my private phone number private, i.e., not give it out to any other person, publicly or on the q.t., I'll give it to you. Let's meet in Chicago. Let's lay one of your paranoid fantasies to rest. Maybe that will start a process that will lead you to a more realistic and healthy view of yourself and the world you live in.
