Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click
"rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for
on this thread.
Note: The phrase "connect the dots" was old - but I believe
that it entered the language with new meanings and
associations - and at much enhanced frequency in discourse -
after lunarchick and I pushed the idea into shape.
That's a statistical judgement, based on citation sampling.
Such sampling, more extensively done, might be helpful in
estimating the influence of this thread.

baghdad / bridges - notes from a search show ..
Air Force leaders learned from human intelligence reports
that Iraqi communications cables might be running under some
Baghdad bridges
Soccer Bridges Gulf Between Kurds, Arabs
The severed head of the current Barmaki vizier was impaled
on one of Baghdad's bridges, while the halves of his bisected
body were put on view at the other two bridges. Harun then
went on to wipe out the rest of the Barmakis. However, their
name lives on in a famous Arabic proverb: "as generous as a
Barmaki!" (Arabian Knights 9thCentury )
Arriving here, it's hard at first to grasp the devastation
of the city. Baghdad's bridges have been fixed, the shell
marks cemented over and roofs retiled.
During the Gulf War, bombers of the US-led coalition
shattered most of Baghdad's bridges across the Tigris River.
