Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

"The US kept it's part of that bargain"
You mean the light water reactors are already in place?
If I am not mistaken, to most people in this planet,
particuarely to the most Koreans on both sides, its quite
clear the US did all it can to PREVENT the steps which could
lead to end of conflict between Koreas. Or to make the N.Korea
a better place to live. The reactors where postponed so the
N.Korea, just like S.Korea and Japan, will be totaly dependent
on the ME OIL "guaranteed" by US in exchange for the "good
behavier".

The North has repeatedly said that it is willing to
negotiate, and yesterday the government appeared to accept the
outline of the South's plans.
"There is no reason why the US should not accept the
proposal, the best way for a peaceful solution," it said in a
statement on the state news agency. It is unclear, however,
whether Mr Bush will swallow such a compromise. The US
president has said he "loathes" the north's leader, Kim
Jong-il, and is opposed to any plan that rewards Pyongyang's
brinkmanship. - http://www.guardian.co.uk/korea/article/0,2763,869437,00.html

The United States is a country on the edge, lacking its
customary self-confidence. And for that it can thank George
Bush. - http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,5673,869079,00.html

When Bush called N.Korea an "Axes of Evil" in a context of
his promise to fight the American enemies preemptivly anywere
anytime by any means including nukes - there could not be many
different responses from N.Korea. Either capitulate or take up
the arms. They calculated they can afford the later.
I heard the Koreans are a very proud nation. If you or some
other Americans have an idea of what does it mean.
