Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

"...(for example, the search facility has been
eliminated)...
It's not the first time that has happened now is it,
Robert? Of course not. You should go back and read some of the
stuff you posted about probability and coincidence.
"...Gisterme , you're simply crazy to expect me to
believe your unsupported word,..."
I can and do back up most of what I say, Robert. If I can't
I back off. Why don't you?
"... or have special respect for your status..."
What status? The only respect I ask from you is that which
any decent human being would offer any stranger. When I
meet a stranger, I don't require him to prove everything he
says before I'll believe it, especially when there's no reason
to disbelieve. You say you judge...if you don't agree with
what I say but can't show that it is untrue or even just
wrong...please don't dis me by treating me as if it were. That
just looks to me like poor judgement on your part.
"... - when you give me no reason to do either -..."
I expect you and others to believe me so long as I'm
truthful; but I don't want or need any special respect
from you or anybody else, Robert. Just basic respect will be
fine with me. I'm not into respect descrimination and don't
want my a$$ kissed, especially by you.
"...and when you deny that you have any status..."
You are a respecter of men, aren't you Robert? The
only status I expect you to attach to me is that of a decent
human being. So far as you're concerned that's the only status
I have.
I can't help but think that your own ego is the only thing
standing between you and the truth about my "status". I think
you couldn't bear to face the fact that I'm just an ordinary
member of the usually silent majority who has simply decided
to speak up from time to time. I'd bet that facing up to that
would have far less impact on your view of me than on your
view of yourself.
"...As for me - I know very well that things have to be
checked -..."
That's why I back up what I say. Why don't you?
"...and sometimes that takes a staff..."
Did Moses have a staff? I think so. So go out in the woods
and find yourself a staff, Robert.

I believe we should keep the worship of big
bosomed good-looking chicks.
I must say...And I WILL SAY IT...that your work in
restoring a healthy sense of "perspective" to this all too
often politically correct forum consists of some of the most
valuable contributions I have seen in a long time.
