Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Sir John Sulston (Nobel Prize Winner) "We must keep
this basic information free"
"A scientist's role is to discover," he explained. "We have
a crucial role to communicate, but we do not have the unique
right to decide. That is for the democratic public after being
well informed."
A fervent believer in sharing information for human and
scientific good, Sir John explained how he will continue to
rally against the megalomaniacs of the scientific world.
"There are always people who are trying to appropriate
the common good for their own ends and one has to continue to
battle against that," he asserted.

RU - THAT GAS -
The latest health ministry statement says that 118 hostages
- 28 more than previously reported - and up to 50 Chechen
rebels died after troops stormed the theatre on Saturday.
Many hostages are in a serious condition
As the death toll rose, two foreign nationals were reported
to have died from gas poisoning. Russia has maintained that
none of the deaths were caused by gas.

Human rights group Amnesty International is pressing for an
independent inquiry to reveal details of the gas used during
the Russian military operation to end the Moscow theatre
siege.
The Russian could have used BZ in the theatre, but perhaps
in higher concentrations
Dr. Christopher Holstege, University of Virginia Hundreds
of freed hostages are still in hospital, many suffering severe
after-effects - including poisoning, confusion and memory
loss.
Judith Arena, Amnesty International spokeswoman, told the
BBC that the group wanted to determine whether the use of gas
"was the proportionate response and within the law" to end the
hostage crisis.
Russia has so far declined to give any details about the
gas, maintaining that none of the hostages was killed as a
result of its usage.

The need for 'standards'
The need for 'truth'
The need for 'safety'
The need for 'checking'
The need for 'truth'
are all illustrated in the MoscowTheatreGas incident ..
The bombs did not go off
The BANG of explosion replaced by the silence of GAS
Deaths, blown minds, poisoned bodies .... the toll rises
and rises .....
SILENCE Years of non-communication made it a no-win
situation
Difficult decisions on risk with guaranteed poor
outcomes
So what is stopping Moscow from naming the gas - to enable
treatment of the 'dying'!
Isnt' there a case of it being
MORALLY FORCING !
