    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

"The real wolves at the door today are rising unemployment and falling consumer confidence, a cratered stock market that may soon be mirrored in the real estate market and . .

The question is, `What's the solution?' "

Daschle sounded relieved, predicting that Americans would start brooding over the economy "once we get this question of Iraq behind us." Behind us? Given that he just signed on to a policy that by the C.I.A.'s estimation may increase the likelihood that a ruthless foe will attack us with biological and chemical weapons, you have to wonder just what America he is living in.

"Success at higher levels begins with proper training and direction in the early stages...," Buck Showalter

The Diamonds let this coach go when there'd been change in the way they did things ... the coach had just assumed the role of player-buyer additional to coach.

What i wondered was - were the new players picked by Showalter 'winners' down the track ? Only a diamonds enthusiast would know.

"Success at higher levels begins with proper training and direction in the early stages...,"

This would apply to nations too.

The 'failures' against human rights relate to the incompetence of minor officials within structures.

Ukraine and 40 other countries are brought to international attention as their police beat-up people in the street, torture and rape people to extract 'confession. Bodies looking into this see swift appearance in court as a means of 'limiting' abuse - training and professionalism would help.

Again

The 'failures' against human rights relate to the incompetence of minor officials within structures.

Is a reason for the incompetence of many armies - additionally they may work the drug trade.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Basics matter most. I'm moving slowly - worrying about basics. Perhaps this is self indulgent - but it feels right to post this here now. The Missile Defense boondoggle is a tangle of lies - worse than Enron - and easily checked - but it does not stand alone.
