Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and
worked for on this thread.
Here's a repost of a part of a deleted post of mine:

: I like this quote:
" The young are naturally romantic, and
given to moral absolutes that necessarily make the real
world of compromise, half-measures, and self-seeking appear
corrupt.
.... Robert H. Bork, SLOUCHING TOWARDS
GOMORRAH: Modern Liberalism and American Decline
We all live in a real world of compromise, half-measures,
and an avoidance of too-harsh realities. People couldn't live
any other way - and it ought to be no surprise when muddles
and messes happen. Most times, moral indignation may not be
very useful.
As for me, I'm taking time out for lunch, and I'll be back
to you.
We've had some back-and-forth - - - "a few postings" - - on
how to get some key things checked . . . . .
I came back about an hour later - and was cut off from the
forums.
Shortly thereafter - all the forums were shut down.
I can't be sure of the reason. But I did appreciate the
fact that the forums came back up - - and if, as I've imagined
- there was some internal discussion about what posts to
permit, and what to delete - - it seems to me that some
honorable, public spirited real-world compromises were made. I
was glad, when the forum was reopened, that these posts were
the last left standing.

I do notice, however, that the Search capacity has
been deleted. I think that's a shame.
If you click "rshow55" there's this:

They had to go back to a backup tape. You don't think they
save this slop everyday do you? That backup tape(or hard
drive) didn't have your stuff on it.

The search feature is up and available you blind clown.
It was offline when they were 'repacking', as they had to
do after the 'mighty maintenance'.

I believe that the "repack/mighty maintenance" was
necessitated because the bull chip limit was exceeded!

I got the 'repacking' from kate_nyt, senior community
producer. I've kept using it ever since.
Of course we all know they are really 'compressing' it.
As far as the limit, I don't know, I haven't gone to the
bush forum to see what the post count is. But you've got to
give them credit it must be at least 100 gig.
