Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click
"rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for
on this thread.

9/29/02 8:07pm are great.
I've been a little off my feed, because I've lost my email
contact with the world. How easy it is, by pulling email,
credit cards, and phone cards - to immobilize a person. . . .
After you've experienced that, as I have more than once -
- you get a little less trusting. My mamma (and Casey)
both told me to be careful - and I've found that good advice
sometimes.
But I'll answer your questions - in plain English, as you
asked, early tomorrow.
Here's the short answer - - if tumbling is hard - -
then a few more easy countermeasures (especially a
few easy countermeasures combined together) would be
hopeless .
I'm sorry that THREATS TO USE NUCLEAR WEAPONS: The
Sixteen Known Nuclear Crises of the Cold War,
1946-1985 by David R. Morgan http://scienceforpeace.sa.utoronto.ca/WorkingGroupsPage/NucWeaponsPage/Documents/ThreatsNucWea.html
is off the web. It was cited 36 times on this MD thread before
March 2, 2000, and discussed in a good deal of detail.
Morgan's piece has also been cited since March 2 in these
posts.

Reflective Coatings http://www.phy.davidson.edu/jimn/Java/Coatings.htm
was also much discussed, and cited 35 times, before March

Gold foil, a 5000 year old technology - and gold plated
mylar - a 40 year old technology - are effective enough that
more special reflective coatings wouldn't be needed to defeat
lasar "weapons."
But the issues that http://www.phy.davidson.edu/jimn/Java/Coatings.htm
dealt with did illustrate a good deal about how very
"special" and vulnerable our "stealth" technology really is
- - at a time when huge bets are being made on the
assumption that it is invulnerable.
I have an idea that in a few years, junior high school kids
will look back and laugh at that assumption - and wonder how
anybody could have believed it.
I'll be back in the morning.

Spoilt rich kids - the sons of oil - are a curse on the
world.
BinLaden is responsible for raising the costs of travel and
general insurance.
He elevated Bush.
He will ( by not being declared 'dead' ) assist Bush in the
forthcoming elections.
BinLaden is anti-world.

Russia & Chetnya have had disputes for over a thousand
years.
In the current dispute the statistical evidence seems to
suggest that 'male' Chetnyan guys have been 'wiped'.
If Russia wants to be seen as a 'great' country - then -
why can't it reconcile with Chetyna - do a report on
grievances ... and try to work them through.

If the culture of the world were compared to the life cycle
... at which points in the life cycle would the human most
likely resort to violence?
When will intra-national culture mature to wisdom?
