    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

rshow55 9/30/02 10:51am includes this:

"For more than a year, nobody disputed the facts in this,
which has, alas, been removed from the web:

THREATS TO USE NUCLEAR WEAPONS: The Sixteen Known Nuclear Crises
of the Cold War, 1946-1985 by David R. Morgan http://scienceforpeace.sa.utoronto.ca/WorkingGroupsPage/NucWeaponsPage/Documents/ThreatsNucWea.html

"( I have a copy, and will email to anyone who asks.)

I may have some trouble for a while doing that.

I've had a lot of inteference with my email before.
Now I find that I'm cut off from the server for my email account. When I tried to connect, I got this message:

Lost and found, rshow's reference has a handy summary of:

PERIOD 1. U.S. NUCLEAR WEAPON MONOPOLY (1945-1949)

PERIOD 2. NUKE THEM FIRST (1949-1962)

PERIOD 3. SCARED STRAIGHT (1962-1969)

PERIOD 4. RELENTLESS ARMS RACE (1969-1985)

PERIOD 5. GORBACHEV ENDS THE COLD WAR (1985-1991)

PERIOD 6. POST COLD WAR RE-GROUPING (1991- )

I better tell you here, Forbidden Robert, that I got the excellent MD CD. Many, many thanks.

"Quae cum ita sunt" Caesar's Gallic Commentaries

Kalter:

Thanks for the Advantage advice. Our other two dogs are on that regimen. In fact, we took "Honey", our new household member, to our vet. She has hook worm and ring worm infestation which we will treat and then do the Advantage thing as well for her.

Our other two dogs are taking to Honey and after a bath this afternoon we'll invite her into the house. The vet thinks she's about 1-2 because of the condition of her teeth. She appears to be part Husky and part Shepard! Now we will each have a pet, (Wife, Daughter and Me), for this coming Sunday which is Pet Blessing Sunday at Church.
