Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

lchic:...21 countries bombed. And what is your point? When
Iraq invaded Kuwait, a sovereign country which was a member of
the United Nations, what would you have done? When the
Kosovo/Bosnia/ex Yugoslavia situation spiralled out of control
what would you have done?
We know that there are madmen in the world. When the soot
from the buring oil fields of Kuwait were polluting the
atmosphere from the Middle East to Australia didn't that give
you a hint as to the mindset of Saddam? The inspectors should
go back into Iraq with a Preatorian Guard of US and British
Marines along with anyone else who wants to rid the Earth of
Saddam and his ilk. Isn';t strange that Tariq Azziz will speak
of Iraq's need for respect of its soverienty when the reason
for this action was there total lack of respect for another
country's sovereignty?
I don't think we want to be led around by the nose as the
UN was during the 92-98 time period before the inspectors were
"thrown out". Lennon's song says, "Just give peace a chance",
well get rid of Saddam and you accomplish just that. First
Saddam then we talk real politik at the UN and have the rest
of the bad guys on the run too.

"Kim Jong Il, said he would observe an
open-ended moratorium on the testing of ballistic weapons.
The self-imposed moratorium was to have ended next year.
"Mr. Kim also asked the visiting Japanese
prime minister, Junichiro Koizumi, to convey a message to
the Bush administration that his government's "door is open
for dialogue."
