    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

rshow55 - 08:48pm Aug 1, 2002 EST (#3404 of 3420) Delete Message

Seventeen of Almarst2002's postings have been deleted rshow55 8/1/02 5:40pm , and I was sorry to see them go, because they often happened at a time when I felt, subjectively, that they were "moral support." I'd like to preserve almarst2002's citations, which I found interesting, and supportive of points almarst has been making since March 2001.

Showalter - you've spoken of people looking to 'magic' in mathematics, as opposed to down to earth concrete facts.

That postings are being 'waved off the board' as if by 'magic wand' .... now you see them - now you don't .... makes me wonder about 'the conjuror' !?

Wherein lies 'the mindset' that deems regular citations from the world press 'unfit' for the eyes of the readers of this humble thread ?

Eleanor Rigby kept her face in a jar - by the door .... i'm still looking out for 'this mindset'!

"" ... Bayfield also says that it is impossible to rule over three million Palestinians without committing moral outrages, and that present policies "offer neither leadership nor hope, neither vision nor strategy, only growing hatred, rising bloodshed and deepening despair".

The reason 'Bush' was jeared at the Prize-Giving at Yale was because .....

... the students had been told to 'fall into line' and 'behave themselves' .. in a woe betide anyone who doesn't will be punished manner

.... they didn't like being chided

.... so, they showed their displeasure by - as a whole student body - jearing at the President

Is there a new 'healthy generation' of people coming through - who may want to look over the past - seeking 'truth' ?
