Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Alex-Almarst-ru, if you read the thread, was against
Gisterme-USA component of the thread advocating war with Iraq.
It's here in the record. The message was DON'T.
Now in Iraq it's the ru-military-simplex-value-components
that are bringing down USA-helicopters.
Such is the inter-relationship of war-trade and
loss-people-equipment.

'real effort' - that's what lchic & Showalter have
advocated.
What is meant by real effort.
It's about constructing minds to be forward looking, to
have vision, to appreciate that simplex-jingoistic-gibberish
isn't the shining-ligth-path
Rather it's upskilling, upgrading, educating and accepting
modern values of advanced societies.

WARS call on everybody - especially the on-your-doorstep
literally in-your-backyard types of war.
WARS make demands on the whole population.
The human losses of war are suffered directly and almost
directly by everyone in the community.
WWI took the men.
WWII took many but fewer men.
WWI left many women 'single'.
Both wars left many children without a parent.
----
After the great social and economic stress of war the
demands of peacetime arise.
----
The UK put their bulldog back in the kennel and went for
social reform and COMMON PROVISION.
The post war governments took note of basic needs on the
Maslow scale.

Australia - PM no longer to have 'say-so' re going to war
?!?
Moves afoot to WIDEN DISCUSSION BASE prior to plunging
Australia into WARS.
It seems the matter of IRAQ was based on
mis-interpretations of 'truth'

"WWI left many women 'single'"
With millions of dead all about her , this is all a woman
can imagine; that it's tough to get a date....

"WWII took many but fewer men."
No, the WWII has tens of millions more casualties than the
Great War.
"Both wars left many children without a parent."
How did you figure out this breath-taking "fact"...?
