    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Lot of your usual incoherent slop.

Bill Clinton put together a "very good deal" between Israel and Palestine - under circumstances as they were - maybe an "unimprovable" deal - in terms of a written agreement.

Nobody knew how to STABILIZE it - and look what's happened. …….But if checking patterns were sensible - not even Dowd could do it.

More of the same irrelevance. You keep telling us how long and hard you & lchic have been working: on WHAT, neither has yet specified. Equally stale is your reference to “Ishmael”

rshow55 - 07:55am Nov 2, 2003 EST (# 16174 of 16187)

The stakes are pretty high - and by now, the NYT may be explaining more than it might want to about how much the usages of the Cold War have compromised the patterns of trust its franchise is built on. There are things to be fixed.

Makes no sense. As usual.

Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

When William Tell shot his arrow he militarized space, terrorised a child ... and hit the apple.

SO……..?

When William Tell shot his arrow he militarized space, terrorised a child ... and hit the apple. …..Hold in there ... the Quins live on MARS . can we now hit the apple, apple, apple, apple, apple

Makes no sense !

On the local scene mortgage borrowings have overextended people, the economy is based around house supply and renovation, the interest rates are soon to be increased. .... if advanced-economies SLOW?

One nonsense leads, quite logically, to another. Even this NOT new anymore !

Just above - lchic gave an excellent critique of the " logic " of our MD programs. We have to learn to make peace so it works - instead. From my first day on this thread:…

Mere clichés, that’s all.

Human actions work best according to the following pattern: "Get scared .... take a good look ..... get organized ..... fix it .... recount so all concerned are "reading from the same page ...... go on to other things." …..The Wizard Of Oz -- Movie Script transcribed by Paul Rudoff script copyright © 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer.

I don't feel in such a hurry that I can't take time to do it right. I'm hopeful. And a guest - so I'll be visiting my hosts for a while. Out.

More irrelevance

The YELLOW BRICK ROAD to peace starts in the mind ..... Toto's got it!

Loyal follower of the pied piper….

What the heck this has anything to do with MD. Continued abuse of Forum !

We'll see. I've got vulnerabilities, of course. Others do, too. Especially people who have to feel a sense of shame - when things happen in public - in ways that matter to them.

What does the slogan " All the news that's fit to print." mean?

This board is a very good place for work - and it has been effective - but it isn't the only one. really out.

You keep insinuating things –- NEVER without a proof. Dismissing your usual nonsensical blather, delusion, and self aggrand

Pondering what it takes to view this thread as an effective "corpus" of hard work.

First, it takes a very small worldview to consider that a thread written in public that is viewed by certainly no more than a few tens of people can have any significant effect upon billions.

Second, it takes an inflated view of onesself to think that "hard work" on this thread, even if viewed by millions, is going to change the way anyone thinks.

Third, it takes a very cynical view of people in general to think that their thinking can be swayed by semi-coherent rants - no matter how voluminous.

Fourth, it takes profound misunderstanding of the purpose of these fora - dismissal of entertainment as their primary function.

Daunting requirements for sure, but met in spades by a couple of posters here.
