    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

In clear:

Lying is more dangerous than people think, and soaks up more attention than people know. We can do less of it. We can send in clear - the message, almost always, will be peaceful. And complex cooperation, now so often terminated with deceptive sequences, could happen more often. http://www.mrshowalter.net/see281_SendInClearNCryfrHelp.htm

But the Cold War has shaped all of society, and the experience of the established experts. Patterns are in place that are the exact opposite of openness - - designed to frustrate predictability, and make rational trust ridiculous.

Eisenhower was right to be concerned - and all in all, it seems to me that I was given reasonable jobs to do. A lot has gotten done - much on this thread - as some editing could show.

In re: Showalter, Lunarchic

You people should realize that you can't chase rshow and lchic away. The NYTimes has banned Bob in the past, but he changes his handle and pops up again. The moderators have concluded that the best course of action is to let him roost on this forum, laying his rotten eggs till the the cows come home. Every once in a while, they purge the disk and let him start over.

It serves no purpose to fight Showalter. Just "Ignore" him. He says nothing terribly provocative or worth debating...ever...so let him go.

This is all I see nowadays, and it's a relief:

I recommend it!

Let's get back to discussing the important issue of missile defense.

BTW, I oppose the Bush plan. It's a huge waste of money.
