    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Gisterme,

Thanks ... you are a 'human being' (sic). We do appear to be reaching a CLOSURE here in no small measure due to the patience of youself Will, Jorian and others. However, consider this:

I've no idea why NYT keeps this Forum. It's a mystery. However, Missile Defence is much more than just technology. Its about resolving human CONFLICT first and foremost. The best missile defence comes not from employing technology which can pauper a country and remain unused but from understanding human conflict. Most of the posts on this forum deal with that issue and are thus perfectly on topic.

If this forum offends certain folks like Cantabelle to the point where they say 'Shut it down but Am not holding my breath.' Then I would have to say, on behalf of Rshow and in the truest Missile Defence strategy "Go ahead .. Make our day ".

That is one form of defence. A far better defence modality is a KAEP and I am glad that this forum has enabled me to put forward that possibility.

"Quae cum ita sunt" Caesar's Gallic Commentaries

I e-mailed the moderator several days back and there has been no response. Robert is over the edge and a trip to Bellevue is in order. There is no earthly reason for this farce to continue. He is on my ignore post list but it pains me to see the despicable manner in which he heaps insults and abuse on WRCooper, Gisterme, FredMoore et al, (sorry if I missed you but you know who you are.) I guess we must continue to ping the moderator. He's been blocked before!

Lou,

"Quae cum ita sunt"

Cheers
