    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Robert -

"...Gisterme's criticism of me can be condensed very much - preserving most of the substance - as saying that I'm "not on the team."..."

Not so at all, Robert. I'm not on any team either so please quit trying to put words in my mouth. You say what you think and I do the same. I'll admit that sometimes I do wonder if you're on the planet.

If I'm critical of your posts it's because they're so often just so much verbal fluff without any apparent substance whatsoever. They make cotton candy seem rock-solid. I keep waiting for you to connect your own dots...giving you the benefit of the doubt that maybe all this is going somewhere. So far, no joy.

I don't know who made you the archiver and re-stirrer of this forum but I for one don't like to see pages and pages of links to old posts. I surely don't look at them and I doubt that anybody else does. Do yourself a favor and don't waste any more of your time cataloging my posts. If anybody is interested, they can follow the forum in real time, use the search engine or ask for links.

WRT to "patterns" you mention of my postings...like "gisterme responded within four minutes to this or within 3 hours to that" ...well you're fabricating synchronicity from pure randomness. It's almost as if you're clutching at straws.

If I happen to be up on the board and you post something of interest, I'll respond right away. However, sometimes I just get sick of all this crap and go do other things.

I've been on vacation out of town for the last week or so and haven't even given this board any thought until today. So please place no significance on the fact that I haven't posted during that time and also place no particular significance on the fact that I'm posting now. The only significance to my posting now is that I have the time and the inclination.
