    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Fredmore makes the assumption that 'poor boat people' are akin to terrorists.

The reality with terrorism is that the misguided rich lead willing others .... whose mode of transport is more likely to be Air first class than 'boat'.

Poor workmen blame their tools

Poor managers don't blame themselves and the system they use for failure

There seems to be a fashion for blaming America for all the world's ills.

Is this because American Policy is seen to flip and turn rather than be true and steady?

How can a strong steady policy that is proactive and assists the world's poor be developed and implemented.

At what point do the world's poor start to look within for skills and strengths that can be marshalled to assist in their rise out of hopeless desperation?

On Energy -- the current petro system --- like all others that 'burn' natural resources faster than they can be replaced --- must have a use by date.

What are those dates for the varied energy supplies.

If all the energy get's used up ---- WHAT THEN?

How do the people's of the world support themselves?

Where are the 'futures' that the young are guided towards?

On miracles.

There is the mumbo-jumbo of photo opportunity

but

when it comes to sainthoods it's getting harder to find the three necessary miracles to take pedestrian humans into the higher realms

as science debunks miracles and explains them

one wonders if there's any room for 'magic' left in this world

Why do people want to believe in magic and miracles rather than look for rational explanation?

Were a magic wand waved across the world

What would it best set out to achieve?
