    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Fiction : Theatre : MYTH, PROPAGANDA & DISASTER IN NAZI GERMANY & CONTEMPORARY AMERICA / Stephen Sewell

a ferocious inferno of fear, defence and enforced conformity

"Now they've been given the green light to unleash themselves on the rest of the world... this is the end of the American Republic and the beginning of .......

Sewell demands answers to some of the most urgent questions of our times. Where is the line between patriotism and nationalism? What happens when the Land of the Free states: 'You're either with us, or you're against us'?

An Australian in US academia finds himself dangerously at odds with the prevailing political temperature and is forced into a labyrinth of intrigue and threat. Is he being censored? Is his university complicit? Are his students and colleagues realigning?- or is it all paranoia?

Talbot Finch is Sewell's new accidental hero; an academic who believes in reason, counter opinion and that we should learn from the past. But amongst the shouts of America Hurrah and Pax Americana, is he the last thinker of the enlightenment?

When a mysterious figure insinuates into his life, can Talbot's marriage survive the new definition of 'traitor'?

Stephen Sewell has won numerous awards for stage and film - The Boys won an AFI for best screenplay. His powerful, dynamic works have inspired artists and audiences for over twenty years.

Five have been produced by Playbox, including: The Father We Loved on a Beach by the Sea, Sisters and Hate. The Secret Life of Salvador Dali recently delighted Edinburgh and London.

Economies of scale

positive benefits that the state of New Mexico has received through innovative financing for transportation, and how our State has leveraged ordinary resources into extraordinary successes.

Flexible and stable revenue from Congress has enabled the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department the ability to deliver dramatic results for our citizens through improvement and enhancement of our transportation system. We have developed and implemented new ways to finance and contract highway construction projects.

Since 1998 we have used innovative financing techniques to bond $1.2 billion that advance highway construction projects by as much as 27 years. We are building quality projects that provide enormous returns on investment for the taxpayers and deliver economic benefits today.
