    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

why aren't the empathetic advanced nations working towards the provision of affordable energy for all to give everyone a decent and acceptable standard of living

<serious mode> (assuming lchick has a serious question here) I really believe that the crux to solving this, and many other human quandaries, is the decentralization of energy production, and reducing the need for vast distribution infrastructures. Absent this change (which will be a slow one if at all) human nature, which manifests in aggravated form in conglomerates like energy companies, will always intervene to take advantage of those who can be taken advantage of, and to benefit those who are willing and able to take advantage of those people. Just my $.002 </serious>

The peace greenies do an awful lot of walking ... but don't get that far ....

There needs to be more than walking to change the world for the better ?

What are the great Economic Productivity leaps in economic history .... ?

When will the NEXT one come about ?

How will it be made to happen ?

Who could help facilitate it ?

Jorian if you purport to represent the CIA note the central letter 'intelligence'

why not display some

?????

That's a damn big "if". FWIW, I have no affiliation with any goobermint entity other than the checks I get from our small city gov for teaching kids tennis in the summertime.

If you are representative of some alien invasion alliance... why not show us your antennae?
