Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Jorian,
Why should one worry over CIA "figgers" as long as they
don't figured what "figgers" means.
Besides, CIA can always do what "is good for this nation"
regardless.

inner workings ?
Hard to digest your post Poster!
You're saying the taxpayer funded organisation hasn't got a
transparent recipe?

Meantimes the Times Financial has figured out the plot
against the common man in the USA ...
"" ... the people now running America aren't
conservatives: they're radicals who want to do away with the
social and economic system we have, and the fiscal crisis
they are concocting may give them the excuse they need. The
Financial Times, it seems, now understands what's going on,
but when will the public wake up? http://www.nytimes.com/2003/05/27/opinion/27KRUG.html
How long before there's an outflow of US economic refugees
looking for a better life and work in .. say France?

BBC special tells for the first time the inside story of
the frantic diplomacy that ultimately failed to stop war in
Iraq. It is a dramatic story of brinksmanship and
arm-twisting, when the stakes couldn't be higher.
Could the Europeans buy more time for weapons inspectors?
Would the Americans abandon the UN and invade? Or could they
wring enough support for UN-sanctioned action? What sort of
pressure was applied to the so-called Swinging Six, the six
undecided countries with elected seats on the Security
Council?
The main theme - whether war should be waged with Iraq -
was augmented with subplots: Europe's relationship with
America, massive divisions in Europe between the 'old' and the
'new', and the future of NATO. While diplomats took centre
stage, a relentless military build-up reminded everybody that
the dangers were very real and fast approaching.
"Road to War: The Inside Story" reveals what happened
behind the scenes, with a cast featuring US Secretary of State
Colin Powell, British Foreign Minister Jack Straw, French
Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin, Chief UN Weapons
Inspector Hans Blix and NATO chief George Robertson. Also:
Jeremy Greenstock (British envoy and architect of resolution
1441), David Frum (Axis of Evil speechwriter) Richard Perle
(leading US neo-conservative), plus the advisors, emissaries
and confidants.
Their first hand accounts help to explain why events
happened as they did, as well as the deeper motivations of
those involved. What drove them on, what were their doubts and
worries? What is it like to wheel and deal with the whole
world watching (when one slip of the tongue could undo months
of steady diplomacy)?
Road to War provides a unique and historical insight into
events that have dramatically changed the world.
