Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

In September 2000, I came to DC and made a serious effort -
that continues - to sort out some security clearance problems
- and I'm still not cleared in a way that permits me to work.
If anybody with power, for instance at the NYT - had
actually wanted to get me out of that bind - enough to use
their name, and make a few inquiries - I wouldn't still be in
this limbo.

may claim that "all are entitled to a fair chance". In the
past, I've had some "unfair advantages" - but I've been
blocked a long time.

You know someone might ask.
Buck why and the fck are you posting your slop on this
ridiculous lchic/rshow55 post slop fest.
And to answer honestly " I don't know". And what was even
stranger was that after seeing the days round 14 posts which I
covered in 4 seconds, good response time, I was going to throw
out one last komodo line. Something like
"Who cries for the dead komodo?", but since someone
acknowledges my small part in trying to provide entertainment,
I will post the best link I got last week.
Be forewarned it's risque, it's provocative, it's
disgusting, and .... yes some of it's hilarious. Second caveat
you better have dsl or cable. Though I don't have first hand
feedback from a 56k modem user I would venture the guess that
it would take a long time to load.
And oh yea, 'not work place safe'.

Buck ...
I think that link could solve much of what is needed to be
solved, by courtroom standards and for what really matters and
with emphasis on connecting the dots and checking to closure.
It leads to order, harmony, asymmetry and of course an unsafe
workplace!

Sometimes laughing is better than crying.
Fredmoore deals with some important "obvious" kinds of
issues.
He touches on "what matters?" - what things amount
to "most of what needs to be solved" how can things be
sorted out by "connecting the dots" how can things that
matter be "checked to closure" - and established to high
levels of certainty - including courtroom standards.
How can solutions be found that fit - in terms of
the obvious, age-old crietia of order, symmetry, and harmony?
What's safe?
Things so simple that even a child has to care about them.
Fredmoore talks about a lot of the right things - and his
collected works have some literary merit, too. Here's my
favorite: 9425 http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?8@13.IhSTaZozb6v.875138@.f28e622/10965
bbuck's sympathy for Komodo dragons is touching,
too.

These thing's aren't as funny as Mel Brooks' The
Producer's - - but almost.

I had an all-day web session yesterday with an individual I
have reason to believe was the Ruler of the Universe, or
someone very close to him. He told me he was pretty upset with
what's happening to the Komodo Dragons.
