    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Can you please be more specific? Which exactly "word of despotic regimes" do you have in mind?

almarst2003 - 07:37pm Mar 30, 2003 EST (# 10816 of 10823)

Strictly optional. To anyone who still is able to laugh - http://winstars.free.fr/english/bush.html

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Not optional!

Hope a lot of people look at 10776 http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?8@28.Aty3aeOv6SR.2452873@.f28e622/12316 , and judge for themselves how connected gisterme is.

Gisterme either has more rank than Secretary Powell - or the Bush administration has a "loose cannon."

out.

The Mystery of why the MD forum has not been archived haunts us all.

The best I can come up with is that the remaining fora uniquely cover all topical expressions of science in modern life.

If so, the names of the fora should be changed to reflect this and to encourage broader discussions within each thread.

The following changes are indicative of my reasoning:

Science and Government -- Missile Defence

Science and Biology -- Wildlfe

Science and Chemistry -- Future Energy Sources

Science and History -- Human Origins

Science and NASA -- Space Exploration

Science and Physics -- Dark Matter and Energy

Cultural Thermodynamics -- The Environment

Breaking News -- Science In The News

I just don't buy the Rumours that Gisterme is GWB and Buck is Vladmir Putin!

Almarst should take your word, or Bush's word as gospel?

Did I say that, Robert? NO!

YOU said that. A good question would be ... why? Afraid your pulpit position might be undermined? Hmmm.

Alarmst I was referring to your quote without question from N Korea. IMHO any excuse will do for those guys - at least as much so as for Bush, and almost certainly more so.

jorian,

Read the small print: the US wants to privatise Iraq's oil - http://politics.guardian.co.uk/iraq/comment/0,12956,926083,00.html

Or so they speak (NOT ME! NOT ME!)
