Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

I've guessed that that gisterme is a personage of
considerable rank, and gisterme has posted extensively, and
impressively, on this board. One can see much of that
impressive posting by searching " gisterme" - and
sampling the content. But that doesn't show most of it.

Judging from the number and quality of these postings - and
perhaps biased by a too much respect for the status of the
NYT, I've guessed that gisterme might be George W. Bush
himself. That may well be wrong, and gisterme has repeatedly
denied it. Even so, it does seem likely that gisterme has very
close connections with the Bush administration, and high ones.
I think the following posting by gisterme is especially
interesting . . . gisterme - 06:43pm Mar 14, 2003 EST (#

We have things to check - and Americans, and
people with power in other nation states - should insist that
they are checked.

Bush - personal profile
Public view:
Bush was portaied as someone who has many friends, makes
good personal connections and holds strong alegences. A
stright and simple man. A patriot.
My view:
I suspect Bush is a very weak unstable individual. With
pretty low self esteem. Minimal knowlege of history and human
nature. Easy to fall under the influence of someone whom he
perceives as authority. Intolerant to any deviations from the
course taken by authority. A conformist unable to conduct a
deep analisys and develop an independent point of view. Easily
frustrated when faced by conflicting views. Unable to grasp
more then couple of things at a time. Literaly crushed by huge
responsibility he never seeked nor undersood before taking the
office. He is a small frightened man thrown in the water fuul
of sharks and armed just with a bible. Looking desperatly for
directions from those whom he accept as authority and getting
strenght mostly from their approval and a cheering public.
If I am correct, thats really scary.
