    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

To Dirac 10......like a broken record....."we aim, we hit," an assertion made over and over again without supporting evidence......

The lasers have never missed a rocket. The guided missles are a well worn path. I have explained pretty closely how it will work. There have been no engineering or physics reasons presented whatsoever that it wouldn't.

just say the magic words, "laser cannons,'" "speed of light,".......and presto-chango, the technology exists to shoot down a missile......

The lasers have never missed shooting down a missile. And we have only spent 200 million. Chickenfeed to the Pentagon.

as for the location problem, the surprise is that you don't realize the earth rotates.....

And you think that that is a problem? It is a known quantity. A constant. It won't slow down the calculation in the slightest. No data will need to be inputed. This you think is a problem? I think that speaks for itself.

you can't solve the problem I put before you because you don't appreciate the problem let alone understand the problem......

Pure jibberish. You have presented no problem. Just claimed that after the boost phase, they are moving fast. I pointed out, without refutation, that speed of light, or the speed of the electronics is no problem.

none-the-less, I stand by my assessment that you are a child, you live in a comic book ditto-head reality........

Well of course. If you didn't have personal insults, you would have nothing. Certainly not physics.

You do have the gender wrong, Robert. If you want to visualize gisterme, think of Santa Clause without the red suit. No...wait...that didn't come out right. :-) Think of Santa in clothing other than the red suit. :-)

But it would be more fun to think of Condaleezza Rice without that red suit.

She's dishy !

Did too.

This exchange is a good example of how definitions (or lack thereof) can cause problems and misunderstandings in discussion. Also, apparently, an example of what Robert means by "short memory" when referring past events, both WRT historical events and within this thread itself.

Well, we all have memory problems - and interpretation problems -- and the sheer mass of material (not just on this thread, but much moreso, on the thread itself.)

Even when we're basically of the same culture.

(Conversation between Americans and Russians is worse.)

Where am I misremembering, and where misquoting you?

Not everybody, looking at the situation, would have spoken of "poker."

You're a letcher, Robert...but aren't we all at times. o<:-)>>

Anyone who denies you information considers themselves your master

dirac,

What is the stated application of the laser tech you described? Where in the ICBM's arc is the laser supposed to magically eliminate the target?

As far as my grasp of lasers, I am the optoelectronics editor at a trade magazine for electronic design engineers. I have a small grasp of lasers and optoelectronics.

What is your experience in the field?
