Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

Agent Orange features in the New Scientist 2001May26 p13. It's
running through the food chain STILL in Vietnam and the USA aren't
finding the dollars needed to contain it.

The Russians are coming, The Chinese are coming, The Asians are
coming and just maybe the Iranians and Indians, Libyans et al. Like
these nations do not have enough problems to solve, or the money to
do so that they are going to be in favor of Uncle Sammy want to
build an Air Defence System. Even Canada has shied away from this
massive attempt to control the skies. America has more than enough
domestic problems where its money should be going instead of this
multi-billion system. Upgrade American living standards with the
money and if you can't do that, raise the pay standards for your
military low ranking men. I am sure they could do with a nice
healthy raise in order to meet better living standards.

You know you got to kinda admire those Euros, they may talk funny
and eat weird things but they can be just sooo diplomatic. Even when
presented with such an obviously hairbrained scheme as Star Wars Jr.
by the Bushies they manage to make sounds as if this idea really did
warrent serious consideration. Instead of telling Powell straight-up
that they know he is too damn intelligent to belive the tripe he was
trying to dish out to them and that anyone with half a brain knows
that a rouge state has no reason to fire-off an easily tracked
missel against the Goodguys when the rouges can simply deliver it By
Fed-Ex, undetected. No they tell him they will " consider" the
proposal and that George BushII really ought to consult with his
former Nazi Rocket scientists befor he spends to much more effort on
this thing, and if W. is having problems understanding his own Nazi
scientists they'll lend him some of theirs who speak with a Texas
drawl. And by the way Tell Jr. he certainly does LOOK presidential
in his ten gallon hat, bermuda shorts and cowboy boots. Give Cheney
their best but to remember that as much as they like him he can't
drill in their National Parks, wild life refuges or next to their
government buildings. Very diplomatic those Euros.

Some of America's past policies are considerably worse than the
American people themselves.
But the American people themselves have been on the recieving end
of a longstanding - sophisticated, very well funded propaganda
campaign -- and we have to take care to see that the American
people, themselves, do not get lowered to the level of the
propaganda.
" Perhaps the Journos are warned off by the
Guard Dogs and guns of military administration."
That warning off can be very explicit and threatening indeed.
Some warnings have been so for me, and for a lady I work with --
people have some reason to be afraid.
But less reason to be afraid than they may at first think. And
after a while, people now paralyzed by fear -- including very many
journalists, may find ways to act on their consciences.
The US needs to face up to some things in its past, and in its
present -- to be worthy of the things it values. Clergymen, and
people who think of themselves as decent human beings, need to take
a look here. Journalists do, too.

As any good high-payed prostitute ought to behave when she sees a

"Agent Orange"
May be this and the rest of US military strategy like nukes,
napalm, DU munitions, terror of civilians, etc. can be explained by
the posted above the almarst-2001

- to "stabilize world population growth"?

Careful, almarst , everybody has to make a living. . . . .
and everybody has to be concerned with risks, as well. Gentle
approaches surely beat fights very often.
And diplomacy, which keeps discourse going, has its virtues.
