Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans
for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be
limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI
all over again?

great post, gisterme . But all the same, though there are
huge differences, there are big similarities, too.
And almarst , it seems to me, has some legitimate concerns
-- especially in terms of Russia's history, and the history of what
the US has done -- which, we'll agree, includes much good, but some
bad as well.
And, both philosophically, and practically, it is to the US's
advantage to help the rest of the world get richer.
To do that, communication has to improve in spots. Maybe this
thread is part of that.

The bad things that have happened have happened, the things we
have to fear we may fear for good reasons . . . . and we can hope to
do better than we've done, and better than we're doing just now.
